His name is Billy Mambrasar, a living testament that dreams know no limits, and that greatness can emerge from even the most modest beginnings.
Growing Up Amidst Limitations
Billy was born into a humble family. His father was a teacher, and his mother sold homemade cakes to support the household. Far from luxury, Billy’s childhood was shaped by values of perseverance, discipline, and a strong belief in education as the key to a better future.
As a teenager, he helped his mother sell cakes while continuing to excel in school. He understood early on that education was the only bridge to escape poverty. That mindset led him to one of Indonesia’s top universities — Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) — a remarkable feat for a young man from the outermost region of the country.
Stepping onto the Global Stage
Billy’s thirst for knowledge did not stop at ITB. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree at the Australian National University (ANU) and later earned another degree from the prestigious University of Oxford in the United Kingdom — one of the world’s most respected institutions.
His academic journey brought him to the international stage, where he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with young leaders from across the globe. Billy proved that Papuan youth can thrive, compete, and shine at the highest levels of global excellence.
Serving Through Education and Innovation
Despite his global achievements, Billy never forgot his roots. He founded the “Kitong Bisa” Foundation, a social movement aimed at improving education for children in Papua and Eastern Indonesia. Through this initiative, he established learning centers in remote areas and inspired thousands of Papuan children to dream big.
Billy also serves as a Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, representing the voices of young Indonesians, particularly from underrepresented regions. In this role, he advocates for inclusive and equitable policies that empower marginalized communities.

Billy constantly emphasizes the power of education, integrity, and big dreams. In his speeches, he often shares this message:
